What do parents say
Parents like...
“Meeting other parents, talking to staff, songs and stories”.
“I loved the little activities that are set out and staff are really friendly”.
“Different toys and activities my children can do, which I wouldn’t do at home , due to the mess”.
“The staff. They are so friendly and supportive. Other toddler groups just focus on the children. This is the only place where I feel like the staff are here for the parents, just as much as they are for the children, and this is why I love the Children’s Centre. They have offered me so much support through a difficult time in my life”.

🍇 Why are grapes so dangerous? 🍇

The size and shape of grapes means they can completely plug a child’s airway. And the tight seal produced by the grape’s smooth surface makes them difficult to dislodge with standard first aid techniques.

Young children are particularly vulnerable to choking on grapes because:

🍇 They don’t have a full set of teeth and are still learning to chew properly
🍇 Their swallow reflex is still developing
🍇 Their airway is very small

So, please chop grapes in half lengthways and ideally in quarters before giving them to a child.

For more information on preventing choking please visit: https://capt.org.uk/choking-prevention/

Many of us use hot water bottles as a cheaper way to stay warm in winter, especially now energy prices have increased. But do you know how old your hot water bottle is?

Old hot water bottles can break and cause serious burns. So, it is advised to regularly check for signs of wear and tear and don’t use hot water bottles that are more than two years old.

This flower symbol, found on hot water bottles, indicates exactly when it was made.

All hot water bottles should have this symbol on them. The number in the middle is the year it was made, the flower segments represent the 12 months of the year and the dots inside those represent the number of weeks. So this hot water bottle was made in April 2021.

    How old is yours?

    Stay warm and stay safe.
